Youth Classes (Ages 10 to 18)

In my years of teaching Improv and acting, I have seen shy kids blossom, quiet kids become leaders, new kids find their people, and lost kids find themselves. Regardless of their background, kids thrive in this freeing environment where feeling successful is as simple as getting up to participate and supporting others, both important skills in Improv and in life. While most take the class to have fun with their friends, improved self-confidence, creativity, and focusing skills are added benefits.

I have taught Improv and acting to children as young as four, seniors in high school, and every age in between. With time, support, and practice, I have seen kids from all age groups work together to nimbly create fantastic scenes from mere suggestions. Using the skills they have learned in class to work with others and create something bigger than themselves provides students with a deep sense of accomplishment.

Adult Classes (Ages 18+)

Whether you are looking for something fun to do, would like to be more comfortable in front of an audience, or just love Improv, this course is for you! Learning Improv is a great way to express yourself in a supportive and safe environment. While most students take the course to have a good time, improved self-confidence, creativity, and focusing skills are added benefits.

The more you practice and understand how to support your scene partners through listening, working toward resolution, and, of course, following the number one rule of Improv, “Yes, and”, the more these actions weave themselves into your everyday life. While these skills are important in Improv, they will also provide you with the tools to move any scene, relationship, project, or idea forward. “Yes and” is where Improv begins, where it will lead is up to you.

Corporate Team Building

Improv is a fun way to break the ice, but it is so much more than that. It can be utilized as an invaluable tool to increase productivity by strengthening focus and listening skills as well as address issues of fear from stage fright or social anxiety.

Improv’s driving force, “Yes, and”, encourages teamwork by illustrating that the best way to solve any conflict is to be a supportive partner. This is accomplished by first listening, then collaboratively adding to an idea. In Improv, conflict and passion make any scene interesting, however, the goal of productive communication in both Improv and business is always to work toward a resolution.

Employees having fun while learning the skills to communicate and move forward in a positive and productive way is a long-term and invaluable investment.

I am able to tailor this course to your needs. It is possible to teach Improv to large or small groups. If you are looking for a more personalized, all hands-on experience, this course is best taught in groups that range from six to fifteen.
